My beautiful Kirsten...

*post by Katie Kenelly*

As some of you might know, Marisol Luna was my first doll, but I sold her and got Kirsten Larson, the lovable blond-haired, blue-eyed immigrant from Sweden growing up in Minnesota in 1854. Kirsten has always been my absolute favorite doll (don't tell the other dolls). She's a pioneer, she's from Sweden like me, and her stories are American Girl *classics* (lol I'm a dork :P). I read all of her books way-back-when and totally fell in love with her. So, with all the money I earned I finally got her and she was my only doll for a long time.

Fast forward to 2009.....

American Girl is archiving Kirsten!!!! I am so sad I can't even tell y'all! I hope it's not the last year with her because I need to get all of her outfits that are still left! I hope they come out with a new 1800s doll because they are taking away a PIONEER doll! Addy is a wonderful doll that I want, but her stories are about the Civil War. Josefina is another beautiful doll, but her stories aren't about growing up as a pioneer. Why, oh why must you do this to me American Girl????? First you retire Samantha and Nellie (the only Irish doll!) now Kirsten! If your retire Molly and Emily or Felicity and Elizabeth before I get to get any of them (besides Molly), then I am going to go crazy.

I am so sad about this. :'( I'm too sad to say anymore about Kirsten.

What Kimdale is like for us so far

*note: this post was originally supposed to be posted on the 15th, but things came up and we finally posted it today, so this is all taking place last week.

Okay, we will each post a few sentences about school so far:

Kirsten: My first day of school was great! My homeroom teacher is really nice, and it's history so I'm very good at it! At lunch (lunch is at 12:30, so that means we've already done 3 period) I sat with my "sisters" and then back in class, we took a small pop quiz. I got every answer right. It was great! Math is second period, and I hate Math, so not much to say 'bout that. Science next, which is fun but not my favorite, then English which is also fun, then Gym and Theatre Arts, my elective. I then go back to my homeroom where we work on all our homework for the remainder of the day. Overall, school's good so far!

Nellie: The first day of school was AWFUL! I can't tell you why now, so I will in a different post. Something came back to haunt me.....

Nicki: School's good. All of my teachers are nice. I love all the subjects. Pet Training Club is great. Sorry, I'm just very tired right now so I'm not really giving you any details. My schedule is practically the same as Kirsten's, except I have Science first. *yawns, coughs* Ugh, I'm sick, so I'm going to go lie down. xP Sorry!

Ruthie: I LOVE school! My new best friend, Kit, who is also my roommate, and I are in the same classes! But I sit with my "sisters" at lunch, so yeah. But, anyway, Kit and I do homework together and all sorts of stuff! She really is a great friend! Her and I are watching the Kit Kitteridge movie right now, so I'll talk to y'all later. Bye!

Mia: I'm in the figure skating class!!!!! Well, for fourth period, but I'm still in it! I love it! It's so fun! I just feel like I'm flying as I glide on the silvery ice! Yes, sorry that's poetic, but it's true! I'm the best in my class.... well, that's what Coach Frank says. But it's so fun! We didn't do any of the "instruction" junk, which I hate, we just immediately started skating! I'm so excited! The first performance will be in December, but we're already practicing! It's going to be a Christmas performance-type-deal, so I'm looking forward to it. The other classes are fine, same ol' same ol'. Bye!

Sam: School's perfect. Miss Frouchy is nice, unlike the Miss Frouchy we all know! Nellie isn't really talking to us though. She seems a little upset about something. She just sits on her window seat in her dorm staring out the window with a sad look on her face. I've tried talking to her but she just sighs and says, "I don't want to talk right now." I'm worried sick!

Molly: Miss Lamb is GREAT! I LOVE HER CLASS! IT'S IRISH LITERATURE! Sorry for all caps, but Irish literature is soo fun! We just study Irish legends and stories and write our own! Right now we're studying W.B. Yeats, who is one of Pioneer's favorite poets of all time. We have to memorize a poem written by him and then recite it aloud to the class in a week, and so far I've got it almost all memorized! ;) I'll let Beckie write now. Love ya!

Beckie: *sigh* Well, school's good. Yesterday was the first day of Rosh Hashana, so I'm really excited since the new year is starting! My "sisters" celebrated it with me. I am glad to start a new year. I feel fresh and new, but I'm still VERY worried about the new dolls, especially since I have no idea whatsoever about the 2 new ones coming next! Agh, Pioneer makes me so frustrated! Well, I gotta go now. Sorry this post wasn't about the first day of school. Shalom.

Soooo..... that was all of our first day of school.

Quick, quick...

It's Katie Kenelly. Sorry if I accidentally have some typos in here..... my cat keeps nuzzling her head into my hand as I type.

Okay, so you may have noticed that the Ticker at the bottom isn't titled, 'Savings for Murron and Iseult and 2 new outfits' anymore. Well, I've decided that I'm not getting Murron and Iseult next. Maybe later, but now I've decided to get 2 different dolls. Yup. And two different outfits.

Now, you're probably thinking two things: 1) OMG is she serious??!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? She CHANGED HER MIND after she said ALL SUMMER tahat she was going to get those dolls????????? She's insane! And 2) Well, what dolls and outfits then?

Well, here are your answers: 1) I'm getting 2 dolls I've wanted for a longer period of time and 2) They're surprises!

Yep, they're surprises. I might give you hints when I order them, like each day until they arrive I might say what the dolls' hair colors are, what kind of AG they are, etc. But for now, you will have to just wonder. :)

Love,

Katie Kenelly

A quick moment please...

I think we should all take a minute to remember those who died one this horrible day 8 years ago. We should honor them by just taking a minute out of our day to remember. This is a very emotional day to some, and shall never be forgotten. I do remember this day, so this is very special to me. Bless them all.

Now a moment of silence, please.

The Star Spangled Banner
By Francis Scott Key
Oh, say can you see by the dawn's early light
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars thro' the perilous fight,
O'er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming?
And the rocket's red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.
Oh, say does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?
On the shore, dimly seen through the mists of the deep,
Where the foe's haughty host in dread silence reposes,
What is that which the breeze, o'er the towering steep,
As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses?
Now it catches the gleam of the morning's first beam,
In full glory reflected now shines in the stream:
'Tis the star-spangled banner! Oh long may it wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

And where is that band who so vauntingly swore
That the havoc of war and the battle's confusion,
A home and a country should leave us no more!
Their blood has washed out their foul footsteps' pollution.
No refuge could save the hireling and slave
From the terror of flight, or the gloom of the grave:
And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

Oh! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand
Between their loved home and the war's desolation!
Blest with victory and peace, may the heav'n rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation.
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: "In God is our trust."

And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

Melody Valerie

Hi guys! It's Katie Kenelly posting. The Melody Valerie Fall Line came out today! Gosh, all of them are GORGEOUS! I especially love the Snowflake dress! It's is my favorite! *This is not my picture. It belongs to Melody Valerie Doll Couture.

Ugh! The new AG items are making me crazy! But, I've already decided to get Murron and Iseult, and I can't back out of it now. Plus, I've already decided to save up for Felicity after Murron and Iseult.

Anyway, hopefully the new Picasa albums will be up this weekend, and hopefully the girls' school photos, which were taken today. :)

Love,

Katie Kenelly

The new AG stuff!

Omg omg omg omg!!! Guess what??? The NEW JLYs came out today!!! Aaaah!!!! They're all gorgeous, Pioneer loves them all! But Pioneer LOVES these two! She she thinks they're drop-dead gorgeous! She loves them! She wants them soo bad! *These pgotos came from American Girl. They are not our photos.

Now, you're probably all wondering, "Gosh, Pioneer sure wants a LOT of dolls!"... well, she does, and so I am going to make a list of all the dolls she wants to buy (in order):

  • Murron Chisolm (saving up for her)
  • Iseult McCormick (saving up for her)
  • Felicity Merriman
  • JLY med skin, blue eyes, black/brown wavy hair (left picture)
  • JLY light skin, brown curly hair, green eyes (right picture)

Let's just call those JLYs Helena (left one) and Rachel (right one) for the time being. Pioneer probably won't name them that if she gets them, but whenever we talk about those dolls we'll just say those names.

Anyway, AG came out with other things too! Awesome new outfits! Beautiful new items!

Okay, we have to go now, but remember Pioneer is still buying Murron and Iseult!

Love,

Molly
